  • Why 19 November?
    – International Men’s Day was founded in 1999 by Dr Jerome Teelucksingh. He was a history lecturer at the University of the West Indies in Trinidad Tobago. Jerome Teelucksingh chose November 19 to honour his father’s birthday.
    – Interestingly calls for an International Men’s Day (IMD) has been going on since at least the 1960s when it was reported in the New York Times, Feb 24, 1969, that “Many men have been agitating privately to make February 23 International Men’s Day, the equivalent of March 8, which is International Women’s day”.

Theme of International Men’s day 2021
Out of the six pillars of International Men’s Day, one is to improve gender relations and promote gender equality not only for men but for women too. This year the theme for 2021 is “Better relations between men and women.”
